Manual Review Thresholds (TBD Mode)

Add a safety net to your automated quoting — only step in when it counts.

DigiFabster’s Manual Review Thresholds give you complete control over when a quote should pause for human review. Whether it’s a high-value job, a complex part, or a model with unsupported features, this feature helps you catch critical cases before they turn into quoting mistakes — while keeping the rest of your quoting fully automated.

Ideal for CNC shops, fabrication companies, 3D printing services, and any on-demand manufacturer looking to balance quoting speed with precision.

🔧 What It Does

You can define manual review rules based on:

  • Order total
  • Line item price
  • Feature detection (e.g., unsupported threads, holes, or pockets)
  • Part complexity level
  • Quantity, per machine
  • Selected Lead Time (trigger review for specific requested turnaround times)

When any of these thresholds are exceeded:

  • The order is automatically held for manual review
  • A customizable TBD label is shown instead of pricing
  • You can add a custom message (e.g. “This part is under technical review — you’ll receive a quote shortly”)
  • Pricing is only revealed once the order is approved by your team

You can enable:

  • Order-level thresholds in the Widget Settings
  • Machine-specific thresholds (including lead times) in the Machine Settings of each configured machine

🏭 Problems This Solves

Problem: Complex or high-value parts slip through automation
Solution: Trigger manual review based on dollar value, part geometry, or process type — so no quote goes out before you double-check it.

Problem: You lose time manually reviewing every order
Solution: Only review the ones that matter — everything else stays automated.

Problem: Customers get confused when price is missing
Solution: Use a custom TBD label and message to clearly communicate that their order is under review — keeping trust and transparency intact.

🚀 How It Works

  1. It works out of the box
    – Go to Widget Settings > TBD Mode to configure global order-level rules
  2. Set per-machine thresholds if needed
    – Navigate to Machine Settings for granular control
  3. Quote goes under review when rules are triggered
    – Pricing is hidden; customer sees a TBD label and custom message
    – Your team approves the quote manually before it proceeds

💡 Pro Tip

Use review thresholds to flag edge-case scenarios — like large quantity runs on a machine that isn’t optimized for volume, parts with very high complexity levels, or rush jobs with short lead times. It’s the smart way to blend automation with oversight and keep your quoting process bulletproof.
